Install UNS OpenHub Runtime locally

Follow the first local installation from the public Bootstrap through verified Runtime download, local configuration, stack startup, and the initial Controller setup in the browser.

What you will see

  1. Install the public Bootstrap

    Download the small platform-specific installer and place the Bootstrap command in your local user path.

  2. Download and verify the Runtime

    Let Bootstrap retrieve and verify the public Runtime release before installation.

  3. Choose the local options

    Select the Runtime mode, secret source, Compose engine, registry, and PostgreSQL settings in the guided terminal flow.

  4. Start the stack

    Run the command printed by Bootstrap to start the Controller and selected local infrastructure.

  5. Complete first-time setup

    Open localhost:8180 and finish the guided Controller setup in the browser.

Before you start

  • A public Runtime release
  • Docker or Podman with Compose
  • Public default images; a registry login only for restricted images
Outcome

A local UNS OpenHub Runtime with the Controller and selected infrastructure running under Docker or Podman.

Set up the UNS OpenHub demo application

Deploy the Archiver and API services, configure the hot-rolling simulator, create its example Unified Namespace hierarchy, and explore generated furnace measurements from the Controller.

What you will see

  1. Deploy the data services

    Install UNS Archiver for QuestDB persistence and UNS API Global for authenticated current-value and historical queries.

  2. Configure the simulator

    Load the development configuration for rtt-demo-app, a fictional hot-rolling mill simulator.

  3. Create the example hierarchy

    Use the simulator configuration to create the equipment and signal structure in the Unified Namespace.

  4. Start and inspect the application

    Run the simulator and inspect its service output from the Controller.

  5. Explore generated measurements

    Open furnace temperature signals and inspect their values, timestamps, and charted history.

  • Access to the Controller web interface
  • Podman and the demo configuration profiles shown in the walkthrough
Outcome

A repeatable fictional industrial data flow publishing measurements into a governed namespace, persisting history, and exposing it for exploration.

All hierarchy names and measurements are fictional and generated for demonstration. Use the configuration profiles shown in the video with compatible service versions.
