Getting started

Complete first-time setup

After starting the Runtime, open http://localhost:8180 on the same computer. A fresh Controller opens First-Time Setup. For a simple local demo, keep the generated configuration, enter your administrator details, choose a starting profile, and complete setup. The wizard handles database initialization and local signing keys.

Worked example

A first local installation

These are the choices you will see. Only change infrastructure settings when a check fails or your deployment needs different services.

Controller config Use the Runtime defaults

The Runtime configuration supplies local service targets. Open Controller Config only if a required check fails or you need a different target.

Access and service signing keys Generated automatically for a local setup

Setup reuses existing local or configured keys, including resolved Infisical references. Otherwise it generates local keys after configuration checks pass.

Admin account Your administrator email and password

Create the first administrator here. Skip only if you intentionally plan to provision the account later using the Runtime admin command.

Solution profile A tested package set, or Blank

Choose a starter profile for its domain vocabulary, or Blank for the generic core. A profile installs vocabulary; demo processes and data sources are added separately.

Procedure

Follow the task in order

    Open the setup pageAfter Runtime startup, open http://localhost:8180. If the Runtime is on a remote host, use its configured address. A new installation redirects to /setup.

    Check the required servicesWait for required infrastructure checks to pass. If one fails, use the displayed target and hint to correct the configuration. Optional services do not need to be enabled for every installation.

    Keep automatic key generation for a local demoYou do not need to create signing keys manually. If a key is marked Needs config, fix its configured source in Controller Config; then return to the wizard.

    Create the first administrator and select a starting pointUse a real administrator email and a strong password, then choose Blank or the initial solution profile that fits this environment.
  5. 5
    Complete setup and sign inChoose Complete setup and sign in with the administrator account. Review the installed vocabulary in Schema, then follow the demo video to deploy services and generate your first measurements.

What you should have

This controller instance is initialized with durable database state, safe signing-key sources, an initial administrator when requested, and either an initial solution profile or the Blank core.

Boundaries

Important boundaries

  • Completing setup is an initialization action. Do not use it as a routine reset or to replace an existing controller installation.
  • For production, review configuration, key management, backups, and access controls with the system maintainers or contributors before exposing the installation.
